Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Personnel to the White House

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Policy Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The incident caused the administration to pause refugee claims and halt issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
