Nearly 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the storms, with their possessions and dwellings damaged.

Heavy storms over the recent period have worsened the already dire circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the territory, as reported by aid organizations.

"Horrendous" Conditions Creates Grave Risks

A spokesman described the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.

"The recent weather was really horrendous for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the spokesperson.

Officials express grave anxiety that minors sheltering in makeshift shelters in wet clothing will contract hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Deaths and Significant Loss

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the severe weather.

Other reports suggest a greater fatality count. Officials said that several homes had fully given way and scores had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces inundated.
  • Numerous individuals compelled to relocate again.

Assistance Distribution Deemed Not Enough

Agencies have stepped up shipments of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothing after the halt in hostilities began, but they stress there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to deliver that aid and to allocate it, but the size of the necessities is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of individuals and minors who are really struggling nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Ongoing Challenges and Ceasefire Provisions

The subsequent part of the ceasefire involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other conditions.

Aid groups have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to respond to urgent and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was initiated by an attack in October 2023. Following military operations have caused a significant number of fatalities in the territory, as per official data.
