Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match winless start to the top-flight season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
