Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah apologised to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
Jones also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, performing and securing victories.”
