Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, however can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, the new release, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was still Forest manager.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
