Followers Demand Detainment of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the Australian man pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another comment on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
