Emma Raducanu ends her season and plans to retain coach for 2026.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four major tournaments during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season because of the illness she has been battling for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning next year's training.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
